Creative Ways to Recycle Your Trash
Taking out the trash is a chore most of us hate to do. Every week approximately four bags are set on the curbside waiting for the garbage man to come. That is a lot of trash. It is possible to cut that amount in half every week, if you know what to do with many of the items considered trash. Many nursing homes, day care centers, community centers and after school programs, need items for creative craft ideas. Items like coffee cans, water bottles, egg crates, aluminum pans and greeting cards are all items used for crafts. Egg crates make great new planting pots and greeting cards make holiday placemats. Find out what local organizations need what items. They may also need other items like toys or clothing.
Item such as small appliances, pop cans and some garage junk are items to make a little money. Scrap yards take metals, so when cleaning out the garage, instead of taking it to the curb, take it to the junk yard. Sort the metals, keeping the pop cans separate. By doing these few things, it will reduce the amount of trash that families are discarding, while saving money on the garbage bill.
